GFA President Kurt Okraku is not losing sleep over Ghana’s AFCON 2025 flop — in fact, he’s doubling down on the decision to keep Otto Addo in charge. Speaking to 3Sports, Okraku made it clear: sacking the coach was never on the table. Both he and the Executive Council were fully aligned on backing Addo, no matter the criticism. “I never believed I had to let the coach go… and we stayed with that position,” he said, reinforcing the GFA’s firm stance. After Ghana’s painful failure to qualify for AFCON, many fans called for change. But Okraku insists key decisions are often influenced by factors not known to the public, suggesting there was more behind the scenes. He acknowledged the backlash, noting that strong reactions are expected when supporters are not privy to the full context. However, he believes the decision ultimately proved correct. According to Okraku, sticking with Addo led to Ghana securing a World Cup qualification, validating the GFA’s approach. “At the end, we qualified… and I don’t regret it at all,” he added.
