Two Arrested with Gun, 11,000+ Ammunition

The Ghana Police Service has arrested two individuals in the Nkwanta Municipality for unlawful possession of a firearm and a large cache of ammunition. The suspects, identified as Richard Kpimbi, 27, and Latif Adam, 20, were apprehended on April 29, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation at the Brewaniase Police barrier. Police said the two were travelling in a Kia Rhino truck when officers stopped and searched the vehicle. The search revealed one pump-action gun, 7,000 AAA cartridges, 3,000 BB cartridges, and 1,124 rounds of AK-47 ammunition concealed under tarpaulins in sacks and boxes. The suspects remain in custody assisting with investigations, while the weapons and ammunition have been secured as evidence. Police say the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal arms circulation and have called on the public to share credible information to support crime-fighting efforts.
